Love in the time of cholera is a novel written by Gabriel García Márquez.
It's a wonderful love story about a man (Florentino Ariza) who had sworn his eternal love to his beloved Fermina, and he lives for the day when he can court her again.
Fermina easily rejected Florentino Ariza in their youth, when she realized the naivety of their first romance. She married doctor Juvenal Urbino because he seemed to be able to offer security and love to her. Florentino is left with a broken heart and he tries to find comfort in arms of many women, but none of them can replace Fermina. When Fermina's husband is killed in an accident, Florentino sees his chance to declare his everlasting love for her.
I shouldn't reveal much more, but I hope this is enough to make you interested in the book. I was impressed by persistence of Florentino, even though that Fermina didn't feel the same for him and didn't give him hope, he didn't stop loving her and hoping that they will be together.
