About optimism and pessimism

17 Apr

There was a family which had twins, one pessimist and one optimist. The pessimist always complained of something: either the food is too hot, or that it's not sunny outside; on the contrary, the optimist looked forward to everything, even some little things made him happy and he found easily a reason to be in good mood.

For Children's day the parents were thinking to give them some presents and to test their behavior. So in the room of the optimist they put a dung pie and in the room of the pessimist they left many beautiful toys.

The pessimist entered his room and look at each toy, then began to cry "this toy should be green and the train had to have three cars and no five!"

The optimist entered his room too and when he saw the dung, he started to jump around for happiness "I was not fooled! Why is the dung here? There must be a pony somewhere!"😀

A glass holds 250mlhalf a glass contains 125ml of liquidand empty glass contains 0ml of liquid.thus, in maths, a glass can never be half empty since 125ml=250ml/2However, 0ml/2 is still only 0mlOne might conclude that the glass containing 125ml of liquid is thus half full. But in physics, we know that the balance of the glass is filled with air,Thus the glass containing 125ml of liquid is not half full, but rather, it is completely full!.In fact, If we bare in mind that the space surrounding the glass also contains air, then we realise that the glass is actually overflowing!.

Great story :up:Not that I would like to see a dung in my room, anyway :lol:Aadil, I like your explanation too. A pessimist would say that a glass if half empty while the optimist would say that a glass is half full 😀
